Meet Melissa Kirk
Developing Content and Strategy for nearly 20 Years!
Hi, my name is Melissa Kirk, and I’ve always been drawn to words and storytelling. As a career editor, I’ve worked at Ronin Publishing, Chronicle Books, Wiley/Jossey-Bass, and New Harbinger Publications. I’ve been in publishing for over 17 years plus two as a freelancer, with more than thirteen years of that time devoted to content development, management, and creation.
In addition to print publishing, I’ve written and managed blog content for several personal blogs since 1995, and have written for online publications, including Psychology Today, Huffington Post, Tiny Buddha, Elephant Journal, and XOJane. I write about personal exploration, self-growth, inspiration, and real life, and hope that my writing shows my readers that life isn’t about limiting one’s expressions or experiences, but about developing bravery and compassion.
Writing That Excites and Intrigues Your Readers
My preference is for writing that’s engaging, interesting, concise, and relevant to the topic, without a lot of confusing jargon or unclear concepts. I can help you create content that excites and intrigues your readers, because when I work with you, I will delve deeply into what you want to create with your words. Questions I’ll ask you include:
- Who do you want to reach, and what are your resources for reaching your audience?
- How do you want your words to change your readers?
- What will draw your readers to your ideas and concepts?
- How can we make your words meet your readers’ hopes and expectations?
I work very closely with authors to help them create the legacy they are hoping to cultivate when they write and publish. There’s a lot of content out there in the world, much of it not very compelling nor interesting. Don’t you want yours to stand out?
